3/21/2024 0 Comments Wolf spider grounded![]() I totally understand that 2 hours of grinding one enemy sounds like an awful way to play the game, but I would argue 2 hours of fixing my base from the amount of times it gets destroyed is an awful way to play the game. Now when I walk out my base and see a wolf spider looking at me, that's not a death sentence where I'm spawn killed, it's just Tuesday. The biggest threat in the early game is suddenly not a threat. If I can learn to beat Wolf Spiders face to face, it's a solved game. The only way to make sure I win against a wolf spider even with an unfavorable environment is to take it out of the equation. It can work rarely if I plan carefully around doing it, but that's just not reliable enough for every situation. I learned that I'm not always gonna be able to rely on the environment or surrounding bugs to fight my battles for me. Taking a sitting to practice against them wasn't my idea in super late game or something, it was something I naturally came to realize maybe the third time a wolf spider showed up at my base. By the time you get gear good enough to take on Wolf Spiders without perfect-blocking, you're already at least 5-10 hours in if you're a new player. It's also worth noting how short 2 hours actually is in this game, and even taking that long is a bit of an exaggeration on my part. The purpose of fighting them this way is that you're wasting less resources figuring out the combat, because you ARE eventually going to need to figure out combat in this game (especially for both of the tougher spider enemies), it just gives you a cheap head start. I totally get that perspective, but I also think you're missing some major points.Įven with the poison resistance, Wolf Spiders are very tough for anyone who's not already working with at least mid-game gear. Similarly, if you can get a wolf spider caught in a stink bug's gas, it'll turn the spiders attention, and if there are multiple stink bugs, the spider's days are numbered. If you're wearing the Red Ant Armor, you won't get attacked by the ants, allowing you to assist in the combat with a bow, and reap the rewards after everyone's dead. ![]() Lead a spider there, and the soldier ants will attack it, and eventually the whole hive will come to assist. ![]() Sure, it'll kill a ton of ants, but eventually they'll swarm it and take it down. A Wolf Spider will lose a fight with the Main red ant nest. It requires using high ground the spider can't get to (like a narrow branch, or climbable hearty weed) and feels like a pretty cheesy way to kill these foes.Īlternatively, you can kill Wolf Spiders by getting them into fights with other bugs. Killing a wolf spider with arrows IS possible, but it takes a very long time, even with a good bow/crossbow and usually takes more than two stacks of arrows. They roam, ending up in unpredictable places, can catch you unexpectedly, and seem to love putting their long legs through your grass walls. Wolf Spiders are this game's most prominent killer.
